Man Allegedly Rams Into 2 Cars on George Washington Bridge, Then Runs Into Traffic, Bites Officer

A 56-year-old New Jersey man was arrested for allegedly intentionally driving his pickup truck into another car on the George Washington Bridge, hitting a second car and then getting out of his truck and proceeding to jump on and punch the hood of the second vehicle.

When Port Authority police approached Scott Parsons, of Princeton, after the cars crashed on the upper westbound level of the span around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Parsons allegedly started running -- jumping over a barrier and racing into traffic in the eastbound upper lanes.

Police caught up with Parsons and as they were taking him into custody, he allegedly began kicking and flailing his arms and bit one officer. The officer and the suspect were both taken to the hospital, as were two children riding in one of the cars Parsons allegedly hit.

The children are expected to be OK, as is the officer.

Parsons was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, assault by automobile and criminal mischief, among other offenses.

It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney.
