Reports of Hour-Long Q Train Delay on Manhattan Bridge Due to Mechanical Problems

Several commuters weren't happy to start their Easter Sunday aboard a Q train stalled on the Manhattan Bridge.

MTA crews were investigating mechanical problems on the N and Q line on the bridge just after 11 a.m., according to the transit agency. Northbound N and Q trains were re-reouted along the R line from DeKalb Avenue to Canal Street.

Riders aboard the stalled train griped about being on the bridge for at least 40 minutes, while others claimed the train was powerless.

"We've been stuck on the Manhattan bridge for 45 minutes in a Q train with mechanical problems," straphanger Jared Ranere tweeted shortly after MTA announced the service changes. "NYC churches about to have some empty pews."

One commuter said he'd been waiting nearly two hours for the train to move.

"Entering hour two of our delay here on the Manhattan Bridge," rider Jerry Bernholz tweeted.

The stalled train was moved into Canal Street around 11:40 a.m., but service changes are still ongoing, the MTA said.
