A recent college graduate was killed late Wednesday night in Harlem, when a stray bullet struck him in the stomach.

Matt Shaw, 21, who graduated in May from LeMoyne College in upstate New York, was talking with friends on the corner of 130th Street and Lexington Avenue at approximately 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, when the bullet pierced his abdomen, killing him, the Daily News reported.

He was pronounced dead while en route in an ambulance to Harlem Hospital, the News said. 

Shaw was set to begin a master's program in economics at SUNY Albany in the fall.

"He was a good kid," his mother Paula Shaw-Leary told the News. "He studied hard."

Shaw was one of 21 people shot over a 24-hour period ending early Thursday, the News said.
