Brooklyn Bakery Recalls Sugar Buns Over Undeclared Allergen

A Brooklyn bakery is recalling its sugar buns because they may contain eggs, an ingredient that isn't declared on the packaging that could cause serious or life-threatening reactions in people allergic to them.

Tasty Delicious Inc. announced the recall last month, but the U.S. Food and Drug Administration reissued an advisory Friday "to benefit the public for informational purposes," the agency said.

The recall applies to all Tasty Delicious sugar buns in individually wrapped 8-ounce packages. The treats were distributed within New York state and the New Jersey area, both through retail stores and direct delivery, according to the FDA.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall was initiated after a routine check by a New York state food inspector discovered the presence of eggs in the product, the packaging for which indicated no presence of eggs.

Consumers who bought the sugar buns may return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Anyone with questions can call Tasty Delicious at (718) 483-8614.
