Ray Kelly in Running for JPMorgan Chase Job: Report

New York’s top cop could soon be working at one of the country’s biggest banks, according to a news report.

NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly is in the running for a top security position at JPMorgan Chase, company sources told the New York Post. The position would include overseeing the financial giant’s cyber-security operations and could command a seven-figure salary plus bonuses, the newspaper reports.

The position would fill the void left by the departure of the firm’s previous top security officer, Thomas Higgins, the Post reports.

Kelly, who managed corporate security for Bear Stearns for two years before moving to the NYPD, will likely leave after 10 years at the department now that mayor-elect Bill de Blasio will be taking office. De Blasio has been critical of Kelly on the campaign trail and is opposed to the commissioner’s stop-and-frisk policy.

Kelly’s attorney told the Post in a statement that his client hasn’t accepted any positions and, because of city rules, he hasn’t talked with any companies. Officials from JPMorgan Chase didn’t comment.
