Heavy downpours are expected to accompany rising temperatures Tuesday, causing localized flooding and wet roads through the early afternoon, meteorologists say.

Light morning showers are dampening the morning commute, but more intense rain moves in by late morning, forecasters say.

The city is expected to get about three quarters of an inch of rain, but areas upstate could see more precipitation, meteorologists said. Brief thunderstorms are also possible.

Forecasters expect highs in the mid 50s Tuesday ahead of a cold front expected to begin moving in Wednesday that will plunge temperatures into the 30s by Thursday.

The weather warms up again by Friday, with highs in the mid 40s amid mostly sunny skies.
