Queens Based Resort World Casino Sets Sight Upstate

Just three years after opening, the Resorts World Casino in Queens has become the most successful racetrack casino in the world.

Resorts World is limited to offering only electronic gambling games. There is no blackjack or poker or other table games.

But that didn't stop it from taking in nearly $800 million in revenue last year. That's tops among racetrack casinos.

Now the operators of Resorts World are hoping state regulators recognize that success as they decide among 16 applications seeking to operate as many as four upstate casinos.

The Malaysian-based Genting Group that operates Resorts World has two separate proposals to build casinos in Orange County. A decision by state regulators is expected sometime in the coming weeks.
