Cuffed Man Who Escaped NYPD Custody Surrenders After a Day on the Run

The man who escaped NYPD custody as officers struggled to restrain a second suspect in the Bronx night surrendered to authorities after a day on the lam, police said.

Police say 19-year-old Narciso Rosario was handcuffed from behind when he took off at about 9:40 p.m. Monday as a struggle ensued between a second suspect and officers near East 178th Street and Hughes Avenue.

Police say Rosario turned himself in Tuesday. He was charged with escape, criminal possession of a controlled substance and petit larceny, among other crimes.

It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney who could comment on the allegations.
