A hospital employee was seriously injured after an explosion at a New Jersey hospital Thursday evening, officials say.

There was a blast in a third-floor patient room at Princeton Medical Center in Plainsboro shortly before 9 p.m., hospital officials say. The blast is thought to be accidental and related to an oxygen tank, but the cause is still under investigation.

No patients were hurt in the explosion, but the hospital staff member is in serious condition, officials say, and a visitor is being evaluated for injuries.

As a precaution, 18 patients whose rooms were near the blast have been moved to other floors.
