President Obama Posts Comment on ‘Humans of New York' Photo

President Obama, like nearly 15 million other Facebook users, is apparently a fan of the page "Humans of New York."

Obama, using the White House's Facebook profile, commented on a post including a photo of an Iranian father and his son Wednesday night, calling their story "inspirational."

"What an inspirational story. One of the most fulfilling things that can happen to you as a parent is to see the values you've worked to instill in your kids start to manifest themselves in their actions — and this one really resonated with me. I hope this young man never loses his desire to help others. And I'm going to continue doing whatever I can to make this world a place where he and every young person like him can live up to their full potential. (And if I ever get to meet him, I hope he'll save me an apricot!) -bo"

According to NPR, it's not the first time that the president has shown a shining for the popular photo blog, which was started in 2010 as a series of street shots of people in New York City.

Earlier this year, the president invited a boy from Brooklyn and his principal to the White House after their photo was featured on the blog. A photo of the teen, his principal and Obama in the Oval Office was later posted to Instagram.

On January 19th, I met a young man on the street named Vidal, and I asked him to tell me about the person who had influenced him the most in his life. He told me about his principal, Ms. Lopez, and he explained how she had taught him that he mattered. Over the next two weeks, I learned the story of Ms. Lopez and her school, Mott Hall Bridges Academy. By hearing the stories of MHBA students and educators, my eyes were opened to the unique challenges facing a school in an under-served community. Ms. Lopez taught me that before a student is ready for academic training, they must be made to understand that they deserve success. And that can be the hardest battle in education. Ms. Lopez always said that there was no place her students did not belong. Recently we received an invitation that proved just that.

Thursday night's comment comes as the president increases his presence on social media. He created a personal Twitter account in May, and earlier this week, he posted a selfie with survivalist Bear Grylls to Instagram while filming an episode of Grylls' show "Running Wild" in Alaska.
