Wednesday's winning $40 million Powerball ticket was sold in New Jersey.
The winner will receive $26.9 million before taxes if he or she opted for a lump-sum payment.
The winning ticket was sold at Rocklins Stationers in Teaneck.
The winning numbers were: 7, 19, 23, 50 and 54 with a Powerball of 14.
The jackpot comes after a winning $50 million jackpot was sold in Tennessee for Saturday's drawing.
Also on Tuesday, a $58 million Mega Millions Ticket was sold in New York City.
The tickets are the latest in a hot streak for lottery players in the tri-state.
