Port Authority Briefly Evacuated Over Report of Suspicious Package

The Port Authority bus terminal was briefly evacuated Thursday evening as police investigated a reported suspicious package.

A law enforcement official said a  K-9 dog reacted to a fire extinguisher box in the terminal, and bomb squad personnel responded as a precaution.

The package was determined to be trash. Police issued an all-clear shortly before 9:30 p.m.

NJ Transit bus service to and from the terminal was briefly suspended due to the police activity.
