Port Authority Bus Terminal Improvements Could Cost Up to $10 Billion: Report

Improvements to the aging Port Authority Bus Terminal may be more expensive than the agency originally thought.

Port Authority commissioners revealed Monday that replacing the midtown Manhattan transportation hub will cost an estimated $8 to $10 billion, more than ten times the original cost estimate, according to NJ.com.

The new numbers were disclosed ahead of a staff presentation to Port Authority commissioners scheduled for Thursday.

NJ.com reports the cost of the project would cover three new components: a new terminal building just outside the Lincoln Tunnel, construction of new ramps linking the tunnel and the terminal, and construction of a bus parking garage.
