This surveillance video shows a 13-year-old girl running after a stranger allegedly tried to grab her as she walked to her bus stop on Long Island.

Police have released a sketch of the suspect who sneaked up on a Long Island middle school student and tried to grab her as she was walking to her bus stop one morning last month.

Authorities are asking for the public's help in identifying the man. He is described as being about 5 feet 7 inches tall and 20 to 30 years old.

Police say he sneaked up behind the Elmwood Middle School student and reached for her as she walked north on a dirt path that leads to her Delamere Street bus stop just before 7 a.m. on Jan. 24.

The 13-year-old girl punched the man, forcing him to release her, and she ran to her bus stop. A neighbor's surveillance camera captured video of the girl racing down the street after the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call Second Precinct Crime Section at 631-854-8268 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

    The investigation is ongoing.
