Burglar Shot in Confrontation With Cops in Living Room: NYPD

Police shot a burglar inside a Queens home when the suspect attacked one of the responding officers with a metal object Monday afternoon, police say.

The officers were responding to a 911 call of a burglary in progress on 142nd Street in Jamaica when they heard a woman screaming for help from the second floor, according to police.

The cops got into the home through an open back door and confronted the burglar in the living room, police said. The suspect hit one of the officers in the head with a metal object, prompting the injured officer and a second officer to fire their guns at the armed burglar. 

The suspect was hit in the wrist and thigh, and was taken to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition, according to police.

The officers were also taken to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition.

Charges are expected to be filed against the suspect, police said.
