New York police are searching for a suspect in the robbery and rape of a woman in the stairwell of a building in the Bronx.
The victim entered a building on East 183rd Street in the Fordham neighborhood at about 9:45 p.m. Friday and was followed by a young man into an elevator. Wen the elevator door opened, the man grabbed her from behind and began to assault her, investigators said Saturday
The suspect took two cellphones and cash from the victim and then raped her in the stairwell, police said. The suspect fled and the victim was taken to a local hospital.
