Police Seek Long Island Bank Robber

Police are searching for a man who allegedly robbed a Capital One Bank branch in Rockville Centre Friday afternoon, threatening a teller with a gun before fleeing.

Nassau County Police said the suspect entered the branch just before 1 p.m., claimed to have a fireman, got an undetermined amount of cash from the teller and then fled out the back of the bank.

The suspect is believed to be a black man, aged 45 to 50, about 5'9" to 5'10" and around 160 pounds.

Anyone with information can call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800- 244-TIPS.

It was the second bank robbery in the region in two days. On Thursday, a suspect with roughly the same general description robbed an Apple Bank in midtown Manhattan. It was not immediately clear if the suspects in the two incidents were the same person, though.
