Police are investigating an assault of a Long Island woman who was reportedly grabbed by a man while she was out jogging Thursday morning.
The 23-year-old woman told Suffolk County police she was jogging at about 6:35 a.m. on Mt. Grey Road in Old Field when she passed a man walking in the same direction. The man asked her a question, and she responded and continued jogging, said police.
The man immediately ran behind the woman and grabbed her with one arm while "groping her inappropriately" with the other, according to police. When the sound of an approaching vehicle momentarily distracted the attacker, the woman took the opportunity to break away and run.
The driver of the approaching vehicle, a woman, assisted the victim while the assailant fled southbound on Mt. Grey Road, said police.
The suspect is described as about 17 to 21 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a thin to medium build. He has blonde crew-cut hair and blue eyes, and was wearing a white t-shirt, dark shorts and dirty gray "skater-type" sneakers, said police.
