Police believe a mother who died in a suspected murder-suicide and arson in her Staten Island home penned a badly charred, fragmented note with the words "am sorry.''
Investigators also say that Leisha Jones apparently had ingested some type of drug. A probe into what kind of drug is ongoing.
NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said a note found at the scene saying "am sorry" matched handwriting in a diary also found in the apartment. He said police believe both were written by Leisa Jones.
