Suspect Shoots at Cops in Rockaways: NYPD

Officers shot at a suspect they say opened fire on them in Queens early Friday, according to the NYPD.

The suspect, who hasn’t been identified, allegedly shot at police at Beach Channel Drive and Nameoke Avenue in the Rockaways just after midnight, the department says.

Officers returned fire, but didn’t hit the man. No officer was hit either.

Afterward, police were able to subdue the man and take his weapon. He was sent to the hospital with minor bruises.

No other information is available, and it’s not known what sparked the shootout.
