A man was killed by police at a home Ridgefield, Conn. Friday evening, NBC Connecticut reports.
Police were called around to the home at about 5:15 p.m. for reports of a possible domestic situation at 423 Ridgebury Rd., officials said. When officers arrived, they found a man in the front yard armed with a handgun.
Police tried to get the man to put the gun down but he refused, authorities said. The man raised his gun at the officers, and one of the officers fired his gun in response.
The gunman was taken to Danbury Hospital and died shortly afterward, officials said. The officer was not injured.
Authorities did not immediately release the identities of the gunman or the officer.
