Police were involved in a shootout in Brooklyn early Saturday morning that wounded a gunman who police say had shot another man.
Just before 3 a.m., police from the 75th Precinct heard gun shots fired near 2320 Linden Boulevard. Police responded to the scene and discovered a 28-year-old man who had been shot in the abdomen.
Cops said they spotted the shooter running away with a gun in his hand and pursued him on foot, identifying themselves as officers. The gunman then turned around and shot at the officers who returned fire, hitting the 20-year-old man in the right leg, police said.
The gunman was arrested and taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he is in stable condition. Police said charges against him are pending. A .32 caliber revolver was recovered from the scene.
The victim was also taken to Brookdale Hospital, where police say he is in stable condition.
Police believe the 20-year-old shooter and a 21-year-old man, who was also arrested, were attempting to rob the victim.
The two officers involved in the shooting were taken to Long Island Jewish Hospital, where one of the officers is being treated for tinnitus and the other for a leg injury.
