Possible Abduction on Long Island Was Prank: Cops

A possible abduction reported on Long Island has turned out to be a prank, authorities said Friday night.

According to police, 911 callers said they saw several people force a woman who had been jogging on Boyle Road in Selden into a van just after 3 p.m.

After police initiated an investigation, a person who had seen media reports of the possible abduction alerted authorities that it had in fact been a prank between friends.

"The SCPD would like to thank the media, public and especially the eyewitnesses who called 911, for their assistance in determining the true facts of this incident," said Detective Lieutenant Edward P. Reilly.
