Police Helicopter Rescues Injured Hiker from State Park

A police helicopter rescued a 45-year-old hiker who was injured Sunday after falling about 30 feet in rugged terrain in a state park in Westchester County, authorities said.

The male hiker, whose identity wasn't disclosed, sustained a possible spinal injury in the fall in Hudson Highlands State Park and had to be extracted from a ravine by a Westchester County police helicopter.

The injured hiker was flown to Bear Mountain Road, where he was loaded into and ambulance and driven to a medical helicopter, which took him to the Westchester Medical Center.

Information about the condition of the hiker wasn't available.
