Officers Rescue Newborn From Locked Car in East Harlem: NYPD

Police officers rescued a 9-day-old baby that had accidentally been locked inside a car in East Harlem Tuesday evening.

A pair of panicked parents called police after locking the newborn in the car while loading up groceries at the East River Plaza Mall Tuesday evening, according to the NYPD.

Four officers came to the scene. They used an escape hammer to break into the vehicle to bring the child to safety.

It's not clear how long the baby was locked in the car or if the child was injured in the rescue.
