NYPD Looking for Man Who Tried to Punch Officer in Brooklyn

Police are looking for a 22-year-old man they say tried to punch an officer arresting another suspect on drug charges in Brooklyn early Sunday.

Police were cuffing a 24-year-old on marijuana possession charges in front of a home on Columbia Street in Red Hook when the suspect, Rocky Harris, allegedly got angry and tried to hit one of the officers, the NYPD says.

Afterward, officers tried to arrest Harris, but the 24-year-old allegedly wriggled his way out of custody and ran.

Officers chased after him; one fell and cut his face and head. The others weren’t able to catch up with Harris.

The officer who fell was treated at the hospital and released.

Anyone with information about Harris’ whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
