Police Boost Patrols After “Suspicious” Men Seen at Synagogues: Official

Police say they've boosted patrol units in the neighborhoods of two Brooklyn synagogues Sunday after reports that two had attempted to photograph the front of one and were later spotted at the other.

Assemblyman Dov Hikind, D.-Brooklyn, met with NYPD officials after the men, who he described as suspicious, were seen at the Beth Torah synagogue on Ocean Parkway on Saturday afternoon and later at the Bet Yaakob synagogue a few blocks away.

"I urge everyone to stay calm, but remain cautious," Hikind said in a press release. "The NYPD's anti-terrorism unit is taking this matter very seriously and doing everything that they should in light of a potential threat."

The men were captured on a surveillance camera attempting to take a photo in front of Beth Torah, the assemblyman said. A security guard asked them to leave and made note of the license number of their vehicle.

The two men were seen about an hour later at Bet Yaakob, also located on Ocean Parkway.
