Cops Nab Serial Queens Bank Robber

All of the robberies involved Chase or Capital One banks and happened in the late morning or early afternoon hours, police said

A 43-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly robbing five banks in Queens over the last month and a half, police say.

Authorities say Sidney Williams, of Brooklyn, successfully stole from three of his target banks during a robbery spree that began Feb. 3 and lasted through March 15.

All of the robberies involved Chase or Capital One banks and happened in the late morning or early afternoon hours, police said.

In each case, the suspect entered the bank and waited to be called by the teller. He would then hand the tell a demand note and flee the premises with any cash he received, police said.

Williams was charged with five counts of third-degree robbery. It wasn't known if he had an attorney.
