A 24-year-old man has been shot to death on a residential street in Plainfield — the second fatal shooting on the streets of the north-central New Jersey community in 24 hours.

Police say the latest shooting occurred shortly after 3 p.m. Friday. The victim's identity has not been released.

The Homes News Tribune of East Brunswick reports that investigators do not believe Friday's shooting is related to the fatal shooting of a teenager Thursday afternoon outside a city convenience store.

The victim, 17-year-old Spencer Cadogan, was a senior at Plainfield High School.

    No arrests have been made.

Plainfield is a city of 48,000 located about 12 miles southwest of Newark.
