Pit Bull Puppies Abandoned on Long Island

Two pit bull puppies were dumped at a Long Island animal hospital last week and the Suffolk County SPCA is offering a reward for information about the dogs.

One of the puppies has now died, officials said Wednesday.

The pups were left overnight Dec. 18 in a 6-foot-deep window well at the Riverhead Animal Hospital. They had severe mange, and one was too weak to eat or drink.

"This is a blatant act of cruelty and abandonment and we will do everything we can to see that those responsible are apprehended," said SCPA Chief Roy Gross.

The reward is $2,000 and is for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whomever dumped the puppies.
