Police say a man was bitten by three pit bulls as he tried to shield his daughter from the attacking dogs as they walked in Long Island.
The man and child were walking in New Cassel Monday afternoon when the dogs came running from an open gate.
The dogs bit him on the arms, legs and torso as the man shielded his daughter.
Police say a second victim, a 16-year-old boy who heard the barking, came out of his house and was bitten on the knee.
Two teenagers came out and took the dogs back into the house.
They were charged with reckless endangerment and issued a summons.
The victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. The child was not injured.
