A woman was injured when a pit bull mix attacked her while she was arguing with her mother in their Long Island home, police say.
The incident happened Tuesday afternoon in a home in Uniondale.
The mother was unable to pull the family dog off her daughter, so she grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the dog twice in the back, stopping the attack, authorities said.
The 21-year-old victim was hospitalized in stable condition with multiple bite wounds to her scalp.
The dog was removed from the home and brought to an area shelter.
