Choked, Beaten Dog With Brain Damage Abandoned in Middle of Road: SPCA

A dog with a cable tied around its neck was abandoned in the middle of a Long Island road earlier this week, and authorities are offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who dumped the animal.

The pit bull was found in the middle of Route 111 near Sage Street in Central Islip Monday, according to Roy Gross of the Suffolk SPCA. A bloody plastic bag was next to the pup.

Veterinarians said the dog had been choked and beaten so badly it had neurological damage, Gross said.

Anyone with information about who abandoned the dog is asked to call the Suffolk County SPCA at 631-382-7722.
