Police in Queens are on the hunt for a man who bit off part of a bar worker’s finger after cops say he became enraged because the late-night hangout was closed.
The NYPD said the unusual chain of events happened last month in front of El California Sports Bar on Roosevelt Avenue in Jackson Heights. Police said the man approached the 37-year-old security guard and asked to go inside.
When the bouncer told him the bar was closing, the man became angry and the two began shouting at each other, officials said. The verbal dispute flared up even more and turned physical once the suspect bit off part of the worker’s left pinkie.
The man then ran off, heading east on Roosevelt Avenue, authorities said. He got away and hasn’t been seen since.
The security guard was rushed to an area hospital, where his finger was reattached. He has since been released.
No arrests have been made. Investigators urge witnesses to call Crime Stoppers with tips.
