Pilot Killed in Dutchess County Small Plane Crash

Authorities say the pilot of a small plane was killed when the aircraft crashed in a rural Hudson Valley town.

Lt. John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office says the pilot was the only person on board the plane when it crashed shortly before noon Thursday in the town of La Grange, 70 miles north of New York City.

Watterson says emergency crews are on the scene.

Federal Aviation Administration officials say the pilot was killed in the crash, which occurred near a small private airport about five miles east of Poughkeepsie. FAA officials say the plane is a twin-engine Beech B95 registered to Antonio D. Espinal of Yonkers.

Officials didn't know the plane's origination and destination.
