2nd Negligence Claim Filed in Pharmacy Slay

David Laffer pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for the June bloodbath

The wife of a pharmacist shot to death during a massacre at a Long Island drug store has filed a negligence claim against Suffolk County and its police department.

The wife of Raymond Ferguson Jr. filed the claim on Sept. 14.

Another claim by the family of victim Jamie Taccetta was filed on Sept. 16.

Both families claim the county knew the shooter, David Laffer, was troubled and should have taken his gun away before he hurt someone.

The two victims were among four people killed during the robbery of Haven Drugs in Medford in June.

Newsday reports that Ferguson's wife, Viedya Quail Ferguson, is seeking $10 million in damages.

Suffolk County Police Commissioner Richard Dormer has said there was no legal basis to take away Laffer's guns.
