Person Dies When Jumping Between Subway Cars in Brooklyn: Police

A man who jumped in between subway cars in Brooklyn Wednesday has died, the NYPD says.

The man ended up between the cars of a 3 train as it approached the Nostrand Avenue station in Crown Heights just before 5 p.m., police said, though it's not clear how.

The train was stalled for about half an hour in between stations as FDNY crews worked to free the trapped person from the tracks, according to police.

The passenger was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

The man is believed to be 37, according to authorities.

Service on the 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 trains was temporarily delayed, but have since resumed normal service. Cell phone video shows commuters stuck on the stopped cars.

Police say they are investigating.
