Pepper-Spray Cop Transferred to Staten Island, Where He Lives

The move puts him closer to home.

The deputy NYPD inspector seen in two different videos appearing to release pepper spray on Wall Street protesters has been transferred to Staten Island, sources told NBC New York.

Anthony Bologna, who was previously assigned to Manhattan South, is now a special projects coordinator for the borough's command. The transfer puts him closer to his home, which is also in Staten Island.

He had already been docked 10 vacation days after an internal NYPD review found he violated department standards on pepper spray use during the protest.

Shortly after the Sept. 24 clash with protesters, Bologna's personal information was posted on a website, and he was given extra security because of death threats and other harassing calls.

Occupy Wall Street, now going on for more than a month, was just a week old when the pepper-spray incident erupted.

The confrontation, and videos posted online, helped draw national attention to the movement and catapulted the cause.
