Elderly Woman Hit, Killed by Car in Bronx: Officials

A 74-year-old woman was hit and killed by a car while walking on a Bronx sidewalk Tuesday morning, police said.

The elderly woman, identified as Candida Acosta of the Bronx, was trying to cross Beekman Avenue at East 141st Street when she was struck by a gray Infiniti, police said. The vehicle then jumped the curb and hit a building. 
 
Acosta was taken to the hospital with severe head trauma and pronounced dead on arrival, police said. 

The driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene. It's not clear if the driver would face charges.
