Accident Victim Identified as NJ Golf Instructor

A man struck and killed by an SUV livery cab Saturday night in Manhattan has been identified as a New Jersey golf instructor and police said Sunday that the driver of the vehicle was ticketed for unlicensed driving.

Wesley Mensing, 27, of Scotch Plains, and a woman companion were struck by the SUV while crossing East 62nd Street, between Lexington and Third avenues.

The SUV driver, whom police haven't identified, remained at the accident scene and was ticketed for the license violation.

The 30-year-old woman pedestrian is hospitalized in stable condition.

In November, Golf Digest listed Mensing as one of the "best young teachers in America." He worked at the Plainfield Country Club in Edison.
