A pedestrian was struck by a taxi cab in Manhattan early Sunday morning.

The accident happened just after 4 a.m. near 4th avenue and East 9th Street.

Parts of the taxi cab could still be seen strewn across the street Sunday morning.

There are reports that the pedestrian hit was a woman. Police are saying that the pedestrian was not seriously injured. The driver's condition was unknown.

The accident remains under investigation.
