New Jersey Dad Sought in Severe Beating of Infant

Authorities are searching for a northern New Jersey man accused of severely beating his 3-month-old child.

Union County Prosecutor Theodore Romankow says aggravated assault charges have been filed against 34-year-old Michael Bell of Plainfield, and additional charges are expected to be brought in the matter.

Plainfield police responded to the Lee Place home around 10:35 p.m. Friday and found the infant, who was suffering from fractures and internal bleeding. The child remained hospitalized Saturday in grave condition.

Romankow says Bell fled the home after allegedly assaulting the child.
