A passenger who landed at Kennedy Airport was caught trying to smuggle $61,000 worth of heroin in his underwear, authorities say.
The man flew in from Bogota, Colombia on April 1, and during a search by Customs and Border Protection officers inside a private room, was found with two cylinders in the groin area, according to the CBP.
The cylinders contained a brown powder that tested positive for heroin, the CBP said. Authorities seized about two pounds of heroin, valued at more than $61,000.
The suspect, a Colombian citizen identified as Ivan Rodrigo Vidal Forero, was arrested on federal narcotics smuggling charges and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations, authorities say.
Attorney information wasn't immediately clear.
