Long Island Man, 19, Arrested in Possible “Senior Cut Day Celebration”: Police

A 19-year-old Long Island man was arrested for allegedly hosting a party with about 70 young people, some of whom were in possession of alcoholic beverages even though they were not of legal age to drink, authorities said.

Police say Jake Sandler, of Lynbrook, may have held Thursday's afternoon bash at his home as a sort of "Senior Cut Day celebration."

Police said Sandler was in charge of the house at the time of the party, meaning his parents were not there. They didn't say what kind of alcohol was being consumed.

Deputy Inspector Gary Shapiro with the Nassau County Police Department said parents should take the situation seriously, and it should remind them to pay attention to what's going on in their own homes.

Sandler was issued a desk appearance ticket on a charge of violating the "Social Host Law." NBC 4 New York went to his house several times for comment Friday and no one came to the door.
