Partial Building Collapse in Harlem Seriously Injures 2 People

Inspectors with the Department of Buildings were at the building Tuesday evening, checking other apartments and determining the building's stability

A partial building collapse in Harlem Tuesday afternoon left two people seriously injured, authorities said.

According to fire officials, around 5:30 p.m. a partial collapse confined to one apartment took place on the second floor of a seven-story building on West 151st Street in Hamilton Heights.

Two people were injured and taken to St. Lukes Hospital, where they were listed in serious but stable condition.

Inspectors with the Department of Buildings were at the building Tuesday evening, checking other apartments and determining the building's stability.

Street closures were in effect around building as police and firefighters remained at the scene.
