PATH Train Riders Should Allow for Extra Travel Time This Weekend

PATH riders heading to and from New York City on Saturday should allow for extra travel time due to the annual Jersey City LGBT Pride Festival, expected to draw thousands of marchers.

The festival is scheduled from noon to 8 p.m. on Aug. 27, taking place on Newark Avenue between Grove Street and Jersey Avenue near the PATH Grove Street station.

Additionally, the PATH 33rd Street line will be closed again this weekend for the ongoing maintenance and upgrade project that began earlier this month. As alternatives, PATH has added direct Hoboken-to-World Trade Center train service on weekends, and is running free shuttle buses between WTC and West 29th Street.

PATH says it's adjusted its voucher policy for the shuttle buses: customers boarding at Church and Warren streets near the WTC to travel up to 29th Street must have a voucher, which can be obtained at the WTC station before passing through the turnstiles.

But shuttle bus passengers originating in midtown Manhattan can now board a WTC-bound shuttle along the Seventh Avenue pick-up stops by showing a MetroCard or SmartLink card, in addition to vouchers. They will not be charged.
