PATH Patrons Get Chance to Comment on Proposed Hikes

If you're a New Jerseyan who drives into New York or rides PATH trains, this is your week to make yourself heard on proposed fare hikes.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has scheduled for Tuesday for the public to offer comments on the proposal.

The agency announced earlier this month that it plans to raise tolls by $4 next month on the George Washington Bridge and the Lincoln and Holland tunnels.

That means drivers coming into the city even with E-ZPass would pay $12 during rush hour and $10 at off-peak hours.

Train fares also would rise by $1.

Tuesday's meetings are planned for sites in Jersey City and Fort Lee, as well as Newark Liberty Airport. Times and locations are at www.panynj.gov.
