Upstate New York Robbery, Beating Suspect Arrested in Bronx: Police

One of three upstate men who beat and stripped a victim during a robbery late last year was arrested early Monday in the Bronx, state police say.

Police tracked down Augustin Torres, 43, at an apartment on East 152nd Street after a months-long hunt in connection to the gang assault and robbery in Orange County, according to the New York State Police.

Torres is suspected in the robbery on Oct. 9 in Circleville, where three suspects severely beat and disrobed a victim while filming the attack. One of the suspects posted the videos to YouTube for a short time before removing it from the site.

The other two suspects, Naeem Akbar and Corrina Montalvo, were both arrested shortly after the attack, police say.

Torres is being held in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or a $75,000 bond. It’s not clear if he has an attorney.
