One Injured, Dozens Displaced in Fire at Seniors' Complex

A large fire in Rockland County left one firefighter injured and displaced more than a dozen people from a senior-living facility Sunday.

According to the Orangeburg Fire Department, the fire started around 11 p.m. Saturday at the Cortwood Village Senior Complex. Firefighters battled the blaze for about an hour before it was under control.

The entire complex had to be evacuated and at least 25 people remain displaced because of the blaze, officials said.

One firefighter was taken to a hospital with injuries, his condition is unknown.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
