A young man is dead and two others are in critical condition after a crash early this morning.

The crash occurred in Montebello, N.Y., a small town about an hour outside of New York City. According to a sergeant at the scene, the driver, who was in his 20s, lost control around 1:40 a.m. The car hit an embankment, went airborne, and hit a utility pole.

Investigators believe the driver was speeding along the road. The speed limit was 30 mph. Slick weather conditions may also have contributed to the driver’s loss of control.

The other two passengers, also in their 20s, were taken to a nearby hospital and were lucid enough to talk with police.

Investigators will reconstruct the accident.
